Set up a Valkey cache
4 min readUpdated August 2026
The catalog add-on is Valkey, Redis-compatible. The Databases menu still says “Postgres, Redis, and more.” Default instance name is often redis. Legacy KuberoRedis is not what you add today.
Step by step
01
Add Valkey
On the phase canvas, + Service → Databases → Valkey. Stage and commit.
02
Attach it to the app
Connect the add-on to the app. Injected keys include REDISHOST, REDISPORT, and REDIS_URL (redis://host:6379). Point your client at REDIS_URL.
03
Use it for cache, sessions, or queues
Same Redis protocol. Backups on Valkey are RDB snapshots on the add-on Backups tab — not Postgres-style PITR.
